The first act signed on to play September's MidPoint Music Festival has been announced. Dayton Indie Rock legend Bob Pollard will be a part of the festival, playing with his new band, Boston Spaceships. The MPMF appearance will mark the kick-off of an extensive tour by the Spaceships, which includes former Guided By Voices co-hort Chris Slusarenko and The Decemberists' John Moen. Give a listen to the Boston Spaceship's "Go for the Exit" here (via Pitchfork). More invited, national acts will be announced soon.
The judging of submissions by unsigned bands wanting to play MidPoint is wrapping up now and the first batch of invites has been sent out. Artists curious about their status, stay tuned — you'll be hearing from us soon (and make sure you confirm whether you can play or not within 48 hours of receiving your invite). Keep checking here and at mpmf.com for more updates.

For anyone interested in getting an early start to checking out some of the bands for this year's MidPoint Festival, I've been doing some research, which you can find on my blog at http://naterosing.blogspot.com
I'm basically doing this just for fun, for myself, and for some friends. It's nothing I'm doing professionally for a job or anything. I just love music a lot, talking about, writing about it, and sharing it with anyone who cares.
