A big "Thanks!" to Joe Long at woxy.com for having me in last night to guest on "Local Lixx," the online station's recently-revived program dedicated to regional music. We focussed exclusively on artists from Greater Cincinnati (of course) and chatted about some of my faves (and, oddly, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent). We played nine songs, a record (I believe) for the new version of the show. I had a blast — the WOXY studios are swank and high-tech! My highlight — the e-mailer who said to turn up my microphone, because it sounded like I was just mumbling to myself. But, he added, that in itself was kind of entertaining. Story of my life.
Below are the tracks we played (with the appropriate MySpace pages linked, if you want to check the bands out). Check here for a podcast version of the show (I totally take the blame for the dead-air/bad-disc moment — stupid CD-burning technology!). Note to local bands: Send Joe your stuff! The address is on the "Local Lixx" link above.
The Lions Rampant — "Let Us In! (Come On)"
The Flux Capacitors — "Mr. Blister"
The Swarthy Band — "Mass Transit? (She's Treating Me Well)"
A Decade to Die For — "Lying Awake Dreaming"
Roundhead — "Moped"
Wake the Bear — "I Hear You"
The Tigerlilies — "Everything at Once"
The Sheds — "Reflection of the Sun"
Buffalo Killers — "Don't You Ever Think I Cry"
Speaking of MySpace, here is the page set up for the show itself.
