We have the letter in hand now from the coalition led by Citizens for Community Values. If you'd like to read it, click here for a PDF.
The letter is signed by 39 people who are appealing to CityBeat's "integrity as a corporate citizen and ask(ing) that you eliminate the adult services category, and refuse to accept ads elsewhere for sexual sevices, in both your print and online editions."
The letter ends: "Thanks for your consideration of our request and your reply."
Interestingly, there's no return address or telephone number on the letter, so we're not quite sure to whom we're supposed to reply. Maybe all 39 people.
According to a report yesterday on WVXU-FM, the coalition is giving us two weeks to consider its request and to "do the right thing" by eliminating the adult ads. Stay tuned.

John Fox,
The lack of persons to whom to reply means that you should just let it go.
Ironically I was just on the blog site of Reason's Hit & Run which was citing the decline of baptisms among BAPTISTS!
This war is over already, and the non-religious have won.
Let CCV stew in its stale, putrid juices.

Way to go City Beat! It's about time someone stood up for their rights. Political and religious leaders keep pushing their beliefs on everyone. The ads are legal and it's about time they realize this and step back. If you don't like it, don't read it!
