ArtSpike’s Back – Sort Of

From June 2002 until February 2004, Arie Vandenberg, founder and chief operating officer of ArtSpike, struggled to put out his bi-weekly publication. While it was never a financial success, it had a loyal following who viewed it as an outlet for the visual arts, creative writing, poetry and opinion.

Those Lying, Gay Bashing Republicans

Lies and innuendo aren’t GOP values, at least not after Republicans are caught using them.

The Ohio Republican Party fired one of its top staffers Thursday for sending a mass e-mail that questioned the sexual orientation of Democratic gubernatorial candidate U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland and his wife.

Clinton Strategist Pitches for Cranley

It’s about raising money, stupid.

James Carville, the bombastic Democratic political strategist and Friend of Bill, will be the featured speaker at a lunch and reception Monday for Cincinnati City Councilman John Cranley. Cranley is challenging GOP incumbent Steve Chabot for the 1st Congressional District seat.

Justice Dept. Likes Cincinnati Police Progress

Even as Cincinnati is on track for another record-breaking year for homicides, Police Chief Thomas Streicher Jr. took time this afternoon to appear with Mayor Mark Mallory at a press conference on the steps of City Hall to tout reforms the police department has made since the 2001 riots.

Donuts and Nick Spencer

If you call the Busken Bakery at 800 Walnut St. downtown to place a carryout order for lunch or to arrange to pick up a dozen donuts, the phone will keep ringing and ringing. Apparently they still had enough money to pay their phone bill, but not enough business to keep their doors open. This bakery and restaurant is closed.
