No Truth to Rumor That Newspaper Once Known as "Downtowner" that Changed Name to "Pulse" will Change names Yet again to "Everything Roger"
What the hell is going on at The Downtowner Pulse?
General Manager Doug Taylor didn't get his contract renewed last October. Since then, the paper has lost its focus. Now it's getting worse.
Last week, Reporter Zac Petit split. This week,
new Managing Editor Jessie Gridley called it quits.
Who's going to write the damn paper? Maybe a guy named Roger?
He wrote a very moving column last month called “S.p.r.i.n.g.” Well, maybe not so moving - just something kind of light and airy that had nothing to do with real news.
The following week, a person named Janet wrote a letter to the editor saying how much she enjoyed a food column in The Downtowner Pulse. What Janet didn't say was that she's Roger's wife!
Wait! It gets stranger.
In the May 7 issue of The Downtowner Pulse, Roger wrote his own letter to the editor stating
that the Flying Pig Marathon was a perfect 10 – and if that wasn’t enough of good old
Roger, on page 22 of that issue, a desk jockey was revealed!
There was Roger sitting at a coffee table that he uses as a desk (can't seem to find it on their confusing web site).
Who is this Roger? Hey, silly, he's the owner and President of Town Media.
Do you know who owns The Downtowner
Pulse?
Busted!!!
Hey Roger, if you need a writer, give me a call. I don’t get paid shit at this LOL blog.
Reporting live from downtown Cincinnati, this is . . .

They should change the name to "Dead." There is no "Pulse" with this paper.

Awesome. I guess Roger hasn't learned the magic of using aliases.

It's a free publication and sometimes I'll read it during lunch. There's nothing much ever in it but the price is right.

This is funny in a sad kind of way. It's a shame to see this paper go so downhill, but who can blame the writers for leaving when this kind of stuff is going on?

I like how Judy connected all the dots! Maybe she really is a reporter.

I ran into Doug Taylor sometimes downtown, always a nice guy. I don't know this Roger but promoting yourself in your own paper isn't very cool. Maybe you should bring Doug back.

What an odd little story that appears to be true. Maybe truth really is stranger than fiction.
Is the Pulse a professional newspaper or a high school newspaper? I seldom ever pick it up and maybe it's just as well.

You can tell since Taylor's departure that the paper has no real direction. It's decent one week, childish and silly the next. You hate to see a paper go under but this thing needs to get better quickly.

If you can't trust the publisher what is the point of the paper?
I wish the editor and writer well - must have been a tough enviroment for professional journalists.
I no longer trust ANYTHING in the Pulse - bring back the trusted Downtowner.

This is pretty wild but if the guy owns the paper, I guess he can do whatever he wants.

The fact is this Pulse paper doesn't need news writers. It is a paper of columns with only a few that are good.

Good luck to the writers leaving but MORE luck to those who have to stay.

This was very funny -- or is it? I tend to trust newspapers but maybe I need to rethink that.

Let's not forget that two weeks after Doug was banished in October, the first managing editor Jessica Noll left as well.
Good for Jessica (first managing editor under Roger), Jessie (reporter-turned editor) and Zach--all of them for leaving such an unprofessional piece of trash. Their talents were wasted there.

Years ago, The Downtowner was a proud paper and I always picked it up. Reading it now, what a shame it's turned into. Really nothing much to read.

Wow, great post! Google Roger Ach and you’ll discover more bits of bizarre acts. Plus, in digging more, was it a fraudian slip that you said that Ach “owes” instead of “owns” The Downtowner Pulse?
