Sometimes You Have to Lie - Part 2
Last week, I wrote about a new friend I've made at the bus stop. Her name is Suzy and in reality, I don't think of her as a friend at all. She's a person who always wants cigarettes or change from me.
As I said in the last post, Suzy thinks I’m now a non-smoker, because I didn’t want to keep giving cigarettes out. Despite this, every time I’m at the bus stop, and I mean every time, she’s waiting for me. I have yet to figure this out.
Yesterday, she had a question for me that I wasn’t prepared for. She wanted to know if I wanted to go inside her apartment and watch television with her.
????
Not knowing what to say but totally knowing I didn’t want to watch television with her, I told her that my wife probably wouldn’t like that.
Believe it or not, I’m not the kind of person who wants to hurt other people’s feelings and I guess that’s why I told yet another lie.
Sometimes you have to lie? I’m rethinking that. The next time I see Suzy, I’m coming totally clean.
“Suzy, I still smoke
cigarettes, but your doctor called me and said I shouldn’t give any to you. How
did he get my phone number? That’s not important right now. You also need to
know that I’m not married, but I am engaged to Paris Hilton and want to remain faithful to her.”
. . .all right, maybe not totally clean.

Sometimes you really do just have to straight up. Otherwise this person is going to keep hanging on to you.
