New Rule: When it comes to Priests, Catholics Need to Realize That the Truth Sometimes Hurts

The_pope

On April 11, Bill Maher got himself in some hot water with the Catholics on his HBO "Real Time" show. See down below for his last "New Rule" of the night.

Does it surprise anyone that Catholics went nuts? Not to me, but what is surprising is that the main point of Maher's remarks got overlooked. Catholics went ape shit because Maher called the Pope a Nazi.

Maher backed off a little on the “Nazi” comment but not on his statements about priests in the Catholic Church who molest kids and how the church for years has been trying to cover it up.

On his April 18 show, Maher talks about the problems with the Catholic Church some more. If you want to see and listen to an intelligent conversation about it, that clip is down below.

Here’s the reality:  Everything that Maher is saying is the truth and sometimes the truth hurts.

Instead of calling for Maher’s head and wanting his show cancelled, Catholics need to face up to the fact that some of their priests have serious issues and have damaged kid’s lives forever. They need to talk about it and not sweep this awful reality under some kind of holy rug.

The thing with Maher is he jokes about something that isn't funny. The first video you posted proves the point.

Yes, Catholics need to deal with this issue but we don't need to laughing about it.

Bill Maher's intent is not to educate people on this issue but to simply say outrageous things. There's the difference.

Maybe the only way to get people to pay attention to this catholic child abuse is to say those outrageous things. The thing is of it is the truth. Hiding behind a cross isn't going to make this go away.

Have we had a discussion about whether the Pope is metrosexual?
Does he choose his wardrobe?

maher is an ass and so are you.
