The Old Man's Major Award
I'm not much for Christmas movies, but there is one I can watch over and over again.
Last year around this time, we featured a clip from the 1983 classic "A Christmas Story," and we’re doing the same thing this year. Another clip is down below.
Year after year, I still laugh at this scene when the old man receives his “major award.” I hope you enjoy it.
Merry Christmas.

Marilyn, her family and I watched it last night - it's on all day today also on TBS.
It brings back lots of memories of cutting down trees and giant lights on the trees that could burn your retinas.
Marilyn had a particularly touching story but I can't share it here.
Scrooge - the 1935 version - is on WXIX at 12:30; this is my favorite version.
Have a wonderful Christmas.

I love this movie too.
Merry Christmas, Larry.

Yeah, the touching story is of me chasing my brother with a butcher knife and throwing it at him (he'd really pissed me off but, for the life of me, I can't remember how).
Anyway, I threw the knife, it missed his head (damn!) and chunked out a big hunk of plaster from the wall.
For some reason, brother rallied with me and we put up the arty christmas tree before mom got home... to cover up the hole, see?
Ah, it bought us a few weeks reprieve.
Merry Christmas to all!
PS. I'm getting ready to go see my family now. I'd STILL like to throw a butcher knife at my brother. Maybe today will be my lucky day. I've been practicing.
